Peter Wilson is the designer of EXPRESS-G (the graphical notation), EXPRESS-X (the schema mapping language), and co-designer of the EXPRESS language. He is the co-author of the authoritative reference on EXPRESS.

Contributions to EXPRESS

Wilson’s contributions span the entire EXPRESS language family:

  • Co-designer of EXPRESS — contributed to the core language specification

  • Designer of EXPRESS-G — the graphical notation for EXPRESS, published as part of ISO 10303-11

  • Designer of EXPRESS-X — the schema mapping language for defining transformations between EXPRESS schemas, published as ISO 10303-14

  • Co-author of Information Modelling: The EXPRESS Way (Oxford University Press, 1994), the definitive reference manual, co-authored with Douglas Schenck

  • Project leader of ISO 10303-11:2004 (second edition), together with David Loffredo, updating the EXPRESS language standard

Tutorial contribution

Wilson authored the comprehensive EXPRESS tutorial series available on this site, covering the language from basics through advanced topics including entities, types, rules, constraints, and practical exercises. This tutorial is available for free as a contribution to the EXPRESS community.
