Dr. David Loffredo is a co-founder of STEP Tools, Inc. and Vice President of Product Development. He has led over twenty major releases of the STEP Tools software, now deployed in over a million CAD seats and used in manufacturing over a million aerospace parts per year since 2019.

Convener, ISO TC 184/SC 4 Working Group 11 — overseeing STEP file formats, the EXPRESS modeling language, and programming language bindings
Editor, ISO 10303-238 (STEP-NC) and Part 21 STEP file exchange format
Previous Standardization
Co-project Leader, ISO 10303-11:2004 (with Peter Wilson) — second edition of the EXPRESS language standard, incorporating lessons from a decade of industrial use
Technical Work
David has developed core engineering software for managing and meshing ISO 10303 STEP CAD geometry and IFC BIM models, driving CNCs for machining with STEP-NC, and Digital Twin manufacturing. He is experienced with C, C++, building native extensions for .NET and Python, Perl, and Ansible.
He is the author of numerous technical papers, articles, training courses, and web content on CAD geometry and data exchange.
